Canary Islands have a good environment in terms of mountains, hills, beaches and gorges. This results in many traditional sports, some practiced since the aborigines of the islands, like the "Shepherd jump" (Salto del pastor), or the "Stuff fighting" (Juego el palo), both used not as a sport, but as a useful way to move around the islands, cliffs and gorges, or even to control the herd. Some of the other sports that are practiced in the islands aren't typical from the islands, like football, hockey or basketball.
But the Canary Islands aren't only for this kind of competitions. The steep landscape makes the running and cycling races a big challenge for the competitors that are searching for a challenging race.
